New Models Be Careful…
Hey everyone! It’s your girl, a photographer from New York, chasing her dreams in this wild world. And where better to start than my birthplace, NYC.
As a photographer, I’ve always tried to understand the difference between taking photos as a hobby and doing it professionally. But now, I want to dive even deeper—not just into photography itself, but into the people who bring images to life.
Don’t Give up on Your Dream
Always remember to be aware of the scammers out there. Make sure you have your support team.
Let’s talk about models—aspiring, professional, and even the ones who just love posing for their mom’s phone camera. One thing I want to make clear right away: real modeling agencies will never ask for money upfront if they truly see talent in you. Unfortunately, there are agencies out there that take advantage of people’s dreams, promising magazine covers and big opportunities—only to scam them.
So, I’m setting out to expose these shady agencies, starting with one that lures hopefuls in with a simple form, a selfie, and an email that seems like an exciting opportunity. But then, comes the catch—a deposit fee, supposedly to “see if you’re a fit.” That’s not how real agencies operate. If they truly believe in you, they invest in you, not the other way around.
Take US Models, for example. They present themselves as a gateway into the industry, asking applicants to submit a selfie and fill out a form. After some waiting, you get an email telling you you’re a potential fit—exciting, right? But then comes the request for a deposit, plus a $399 fee for a portfolio shoot. Red flag! Legitimate agencies do not charge upfront fees. This is a classic scam, designed to prey on aspiring models who are eager to break into the industry.
If you’re looking to get into modeling, always do your research and be skeptical of anyone asking for money before offering real opportunities. Stay smart, stay safe, and don’t let anyone take advantage of your dreams!
Do your Research and embrace the negative
Remember that the negative makes you stronger. You have to have a tough skin in this cruel world.
